Nurses are available in many different medical areas. They are trained to become assistants to doctors, surgeons, and specialists. They will need to wear scrubs and protective gear when working in hospitals or other health care centers. Registered nurses, or RNs, will need to go to a nursing school and receive a degree. It can be a very hard process and some people will not pass the test to be able to proceed in the process. The labor department in your state will have information on the system of becoming a licensed nurse in your area. Do some research and find nursing schools that have a good reputation for having qualified nurses pass the required exams and easily find jobs in hospitals or private practices. Male and female nurses can work to get their PhD while working with health care providers to help others recover from their illnesses and get back to their regular life. Specialists will have nurses on staff to help take certain tests on the patients and watch over them throughout their stay at the hospital or clinic. While treatment is often prescribed by a higher level health care provider, nurses are often the ones that administer the treatment in centers. Nurse practitioners that are advanced in their profession can teach others on the different techniques and procedures that nursing students need to learn to start their career. If you're interested in becoming a nurse practitioner, find as much information as you can about the degree program in your area. Ask friends and family, look in a phone book, or search the internet for credited nursing schools. Learn about the safety requirements you will need to know, and what it takes to become a resident of a hospital.
Nurses and nurse practitioners are health care professionals. Nurses are men and women who are responsible (along with other health care professionals) for the treatment, safety and recovery of acutely or chronically ill or injured people, health maintenance of the healthy, and treatment of life-threatening emergencies in a wide range of health care settings. Nurses may also be involved in medical and nursing research and perform a wide range of non-clinical functions necessary to the delivery of health care. Nurse Practitioners are registered nurses who have completed advanced education, typically at least a minimum of a masters degree, as well as training in the diagnosis and management of common medical conditions, including chronic illnesses.
